Welcome to The Woodshed

A music rehearsal space with drums, guitar amplifiers, and audio equipment, set against a wooden wall with framed artwork and potted plants, illuminated by warm lighting.

The Woodshed* is a monthly workshop where students come together to apply their chops in front of other students, supported by band of professional musicians. In this supportive environment where constructive criticism is encouraged and expected, students will gain live experience where YOU are the band leader. Join the Woodshed today!

Why?

There are few things in life more enjoyable than watching a band who has put in the work and can deliver a stellar performance that keeps you thinking about it days after.

All too often, musicians want to get in front of a live audience for their own ego gratification. Unprepared and unrehearsed, the gig ends up being a train wreck at worst or “meh” at best. Yay, another band doing a lukewarm cover of Brick House. NOT! Don’t be a part of self-centered gig culture that is slowly but surely eroding the live music experience.

Remember, the audience does not owe us their attention because we chose to be musicians. As musicians, we owe it to the audience to be the best we can possibly be. Their attention and trust is earned, not given.

*Woodshed - Among musicians and other artists, "woodshedding" (or simply "shedding") means secluding yourself to practice. It refers to intense, focused repetition of difficult material in private to master your craft before performing in public.
